Hi mates!

Recently I'd finished a new boxart to Elan13 Miniatures. A new bust sculpted by Robert Lane. The bust is 1/12 scale and is casted in three resin pieces. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that will be available at Euro; where you can see this painted version

If you have doubts about how I painted the black, you can check my website where I'd explained it. Anyway, if you've more doubts feel free to ask

A lovely piece of work Alex and a great sculpt from Robert. I picked mine up at Figure World (Official launch at Euro) and highly recommend the piece which has been extremely well cast as well. I hope Rob does well with this piece, as a fan of this era I would love to see more.

Very great painting !

I love the way you handle the "white" parts of the uniform (headbones and so on). The black is also top !

Thanks Alex, I download pictures of any finished pieces that still reside in my Grey Army waiting to be painted so that I have a number of references when I come to paint. I also download paint mixes. Not having studied Art and without natural artistic talent (I'm better at copying than creating) I find this invaluable.
Thanks for your understanding..............Keith

Hi Alex,
I can imagine that to paint in black is not easy, I must say you have done a fantastic job as usual. I have a project that I need to paint black facings on a uniform, I only have Vallejo acrylics, what would you recommend and how should I tackle this? I would like your thoughts and recommendations please.
cheers

Thanks to all, my friends!!

Hi Richie! Sorry for the delayed reply, I read your post but I forgot to reply you. My apologizes.

Ok, to paint a blue-black like this, just using Vallejo Colors, I think you could use:

Base: Prussian Blue + Black (the base has to be more black than blue)
Lights: adding to the color base in different steps; +prussian blue, +Sunny Skintone (just a bit) +some light grey
Shadows: +black
Tones: here you can use some differents like Violet Red, Deep Blue......

Hope it helps!
