Hi,
I bought a new toy this weekend :)
I got a Fugifilm Finepix S700 digital camera.
Really seems like a good camera so far.
Here are the specs:
7.1 megapixels
10x optical zoom
macro and super macro settings (down to 0.4 inch distance)
video at 30 frames per second (same as television viewing)
powered by 4 AA size batteries
SLR type body (not the flat box style camera)
Lots of bells and whistles to let you play with your picture taking or just shoot on auto and let the camera do the work (it knows a lot more than I do :) )

I also bought a Scandisk Ultra II 2 gig SD chip for photo storage (it also will take an xD-Picture Card)

The camera was on sale at Circuit City for $224.00 and the chip was on sale as well for $35.00. So those plus a camera bag, a set of Lithium batteries and 7% state sales tax came to a total of approx. $300.00 (USD)

Now I just need to play with it so I can use it effectively at MFCA this weekend. So far it seems pretty easy to figure things out. And it's a nice light weight body with a good positive feeling grip to it.
Anyone else out there have this camera? Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thanks,
Craig

I have the Finepix Fuji S3100 camera and its a great quality camera. I am still learning the use of it for figures.

You did good Craig.

Craig,
I found the flash washed some of the colour out of the picture when taking figures at close range. So I have used a high tech solution that worksfor me. I put a small piece of Kleenex over the flash to diffuse the light a little. I used to do this with my 35mm Camera. For my camera a Canon Sureshot 530, I use a double layer. The kleenex is already a double layer. I attach the kleenex with 2 small pieces of Scotch tape. I think that I can cut the flash down with the settings, but I have not figured that out yet?? To busy painting figures:)
Enjoy the toy:cool:
Cheers
John

Hi guys,
Thanks for the info. I've also found that using the flash ruins the pictures on the miniatures. On the new camera, you can choose to reduce the flash or just turn the flash off. But the tissue over the flash sounds interesting too. Could make for some interesting effects.
I'll have to give it a try sometime :)
Thanks again,
Craig

Craig, I've read some good things about Fuji cameras. Please post pictures once you figure out.~Gary

Hi Gary,
The new camera's going to get a good work out this weekend at MFCA :)
I should have either a whole lot of good pictures to post next week or...:(
Hope to see you there.
Craig
