I recently bought the Vallejo blue, red and face washes.
I tested the flesh wash on a face of one of the figures and it seems to be giving a nice shade.
I tested the red wash on the creaces of a red coat straight from the bottle and it giving me a nice transition form the lightest ares to the darkest area, very smooth,so i am happy.
I have been reading on the forum and on the net but i have my head about to blow with so much info that i am getting confused.
So i want to know the difference between the inks and washes,i bought a complete set of inks today and i want to make sure i know how to use it.
Best regards.

I think the difference is in the properties of the liquids, the inks work like a coloured clear coat, often used for metals (eg metal armour), while thinned, they run along recessed details well, my experience is the less thinned, the more they tend to dry satin. I've little experience with washes, they are simply pre-thinned colour. When aplying more layers, inks let the basecolour see through better. Your safe bet is still to experiment :)

Yeah,i have been doing some research and experimented alittle with the red wash, which at first i used on a 1:2 thinned, then i used straight from the bottle and then i mixed with a little bit of Sepia ink,the result is really good for shadows on a red coat.
I have also heard that some folks mixed the ink with a little bit of floor wax,i will probably try this, curious to see the effect of it.
Other mixed the inks with a little bit of Tamiya flat base (X21) to avoid the glossy effect.
I think the best is to experiment myself and find the proper use and ratio of mixing for washes and inks.
Thanks for your reply
