Hi all,

I have some doubts regarding this bust.

One: are the cords white or goldish as shown.
Two: the back of the hat has a grenade as shown or a white cross
Three: the overcoat should be grey has shown or blue

Thanks for the help.

Thank Marc, but my dutch in non-existing.

Althought by the photos it seems that they represented the after-1814 period when The Netherlands forces no longer were part of the french army.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Cheers,
Paulo

Paulo,
Where talking about the period 1790-1815.
In 1810, the Regiment of Foot Grenadiers of the Dutch Royal Guard was incorporated into the Imperial Guard as the 2nd Regiment of Foot Grenadiers. Then in 1811 two more regiments, one of Foot Grenadiers and one of Foot Chasseurs, were raised. Because their cadres came from the existing regiments, they were classed as part of the Old Guard. The former Dutch Grenadiers were renumbered as the 3rd Foot Grenadiers, so that the infantry of the Old Guard now consisted of three foot grenadier and two foot chasseur regiments. New colors, with numerals instead of badges in the corners and different inscriptions, were issued to all regiments of the Guard in 1811. The basis of issue remained one color per battalion.

I can help to translate if you give me what you wanted to know.

According to four different books on the subject I have at hand:
One: are the cords white or goldish as shown.
White
Two: the back of the hat has a grenade as shown or a white cross
A grenade. They did had a white cross on their original Dutch Guard uniforms, but that was changed when they were incorporated into the French Guard.
Three: the overcoat should be grey has shown or blue
Neither grey nor dark blue, but sky blue, though darker than what we call "sky blue" nowadays.

Thank you Luis, Marc.

The problem of the cords and tassel is that some places say (show) that is white and other say (show) that is yellow+red.

About the grenade, again, the same problem.

Does the fact of being Full Dress or not has to do with it?

Regarding the overcoat should it be a blue kind of France Football shirt?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Paulo

Hi all,

this is the info I received from Ivo Preda:

"...
Cords and tassels depend on the rank of the guy. If is a sergeant it has gold ( not yellow) and red decorations. it seems to be a sergeant. if you want to undestand how they works you can go to see my sapper on figurinitaly. Also if is from anhoter regiments the conceptare the same

the grenade has to follow the rank colour, in this case are gold

the back roll, for my knowledge, has to be dark blue. Grey isn't completely wrong but if I've to paint it I will paint it blue
...
"

Thank you all for the help.

Cheers,
Paulo
