Hi Friends.
This is my latest.Painted for Jimmy(Jimmyoc).
This is quite a large piece.
The model is quite simplistic but yet a very powerful piece(IMHO).
All the best.
Ralph.

AS stated above, would love to do something like this for my friends from 2&3 Para...can you tell me from whom you ordered the SLR and Helmet?
BTW...my friends names are Stephen McConnell and Julian Ingram. Was Jimmy in 3 Para in the Falklands? If so, am sure he will know the names.

Hi Kevin.
Yes Jimmy was in 3 Para during the Battle of Mt Longdon.
When I received the piece it was a solid cast piece of resin.
I have no idea of the origin of the piece.
To me it looks like they were cast from pieces from an 1/6 action figure.
Here is a link to Jimmy.I'm sure he will help you.

Lest we forget.....I like this simple, yet emotional piece. I'm sure it will bring a lump to the throat of many old soldiers, me included (although I'm not that old, in the grand scheme of things).

Thanks for sharing Ralph, I'm sure Jimmy will be over the moon with it (y)

Hi Ralph, absolutely delighted, it will take pride of place, yes I know both blokes, in fact Steve McConnell helped carry me into the Regimental Aid Post after I'd been wounded, below is a quote from my book,
Very much appreciated Ralph (y)
LCpl Paul Wray, 21 Years Old, 7 Platoon:

I remember when the shells caught us out in the open. At this point everyone dived for cover, and I found myself left alone with Pte O’Connell. I grabbed him under the arms and started dragging him towards the R.A.P, slipping and sliding on the frozen ground. After about 20 yards, Steve McConnell appeared and grabbed his legs, and between the two of us, we carried him and dropped him a few times, but managed to carry him to the nearest piece of cover. After the shelling stopped, and with the help of the rest of the lads, we managed to get Pte O’Connell to the R.A.P.

It was a real pleasure to paint.

Ralph.
ps.It will be posted this afternoon.

I like the simple understated and poignant memorial as a way to honour and remember the fallen.

Thanks also to JimmyOc for quoting that section from the book. I'm sure there's a lot more than can be said about that moment in your life but sometimes it's best not to. Words are sometimes inadequate.

Just a quick one for Ralph, the figure has just arrived, and looks even better than in the photos, once again thank you (y)
