In Reflection

Got this one finished up and mounted a couple of days ago.
It's the Black Crow "Urhuk the Savage" (aka Conan) by one of my favourite sculptors Latorre. Casting is superb, and a lot of fun to paint. I deliberately kept a somewhat monotone palette of browns, with a couple of small bits of colour on his necklace for effect. I have also given his eyes a slight downward look, and added to that by slightly inclining the position on the base, hence the title "In Reflection", as if he is deep in thought.

For starters, you know I like titling: on reflection ..works to set the mood...so a viewer enters either or both from aspect of Conan, or of a sensibility...then, soft transluscency in paint, almost smoky look, really helps the mood...colour choices all tie to coherent result...ya nailed it! And the base completes the composition rather than just being something to hold up the piece...
It’s one of those holy crap that’s good pieces...
