Hi All,

I've had my eyes on this figure for some time and now finally decided to get it via the German company Peddinghaus Decals ( ).

Reason why I hesitated buying it was that there was only one low-res picture of the figure on the site.

I'm relieved to be able to report that it is actually a very nice figure that I can highly recommend. This review is intended to show you a bit more than the picture on the seller's site does.

Only comment is that some of the casting is very fine and sensitive; some fine parts were damaged in my copy, possibly because packaging was minimal: no box, just a sealed plastic bag in a bubble wrap envelope.

It requires some skill in assembly, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm not sure of the pedigree of this figure. I believe I heard/read somewhere that this is an ex-S&T figure. If anyone knows, please leave a post.

Well, over to the pictures. As said, all in all, I can recommend this figure!

Cheers,
Adrian

PS: Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I now finally concluded this camera is not suitable for model photography...

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

That is... interesting. This one and 3 others on their site were originally S&T figures. The Waffen SS grenadier they are selling appears to be the one formerly sold by, I believe, Legend or Sol. I wonder if they are selling Chinese recasts of S&T figs, since thats the only other place I have seen them other than authentic S&T items. No box usually means recast. They are on e-bay all the time. S&T never did their weapons in white metal.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

I'm afraid that those figures are all counterfeits.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

oh yes the old discussion
well i did not make the recasts .i saw them bought them thats all.when this german major company sells off such items at ebay its not my policy to do research which or who might have once produced them
i buy an product the rest does not barther me.
i like this figure so i bought it.
the moral thing is up to the seller not me the buyer.even more if its an company which is already down.shall i reserach for weeks an certain figure before i dare to buy it?
and if someone calls me crook because of this well i can live with it
the world is like it is.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

If these Peddinghaus releases are indeed recasts then they are pretty expensive. You would get it much cheaper from some infamous Chinese guy.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

This was originally an S and T figure despite what anyone says. However if I remember he had a rifle over his right shoulder with the strap being held in his right hand.
It was a lovely figure with first class moulding and casting which included some very fine casting indeed.
I must also say that my figure came in a very sturdy box and was very well packed with everything protected. If it was a legal reproduction I am sure S and T would have given the new owner the box design.

Don

PS Pincel I accept you are not so Holy as the POPE but I never knew he was a figure painter. Thanks for the information!

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

well
he is
he and his brother are avid lovers of little boy figures like so many german high ranking bishops and others.,boy the last months in germany did reveal things

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

Interesting. So it seems we have here a listed company selling reproductions under their own brand...hm. Seems dubious, but we don't know what deal they may have made with S&T.

Don, your remark about the figure carrying a rifle over his shoulder makes complete sense. There is a rifle sling casted on the figure, but it just ends in the middle of nowhere. There even is a 'slot' behind the left shoulder where this rifle would fit (I mean his LEFT shoulder, you too?). It seems someone made a simple conversion and sold that as a new product. Did the S&T figure have the backpack as well?

Too bad to hear about the figure's dubious pedigree. Yet I must say I am glad I have this figure and that I never find original S&T figures for (legitimate) sale. If anyone has tips on how to get at them, please leave a post.

Cheers,
Adrian

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

Sorry Adrian I meant his Left Shoulder. If I remember it was just a standard German rifle. Yes the original figure had a backpack. Looks like they got it all except the rifle which was a rather fine cast.

Buyer or seller makes no difference if this is indeed a recast both parties are engaged in something unscrupulous and illegal. In such a niche hobby how can a small cottage industry expect to make a living when the miniature community continues to support thieves. You better learn to create your own pieces because someday this recast thing will force the remaining few manufacturers out of business! I simply do not understand your reasoning and justification in your purchase.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

I'm locking this thread until there is proof that this is not a recast.

Before we all start accusations, do we know for a fact these are illegal recasts or just an acquisition from one firm to another?

Can anyone confirm that Peddinghaus has rights to cast S&T figures? Send me a PM if so.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

Hey Gordy,
If they were legal recasts, I would think we would see some actual boxes, and all the parts as the original (like the noted missing rifle) and a note that they licensed copies ofthe S&T stuff. John Rosengrant knows Jim Sullivan (the honcho of S&T) since he sculpted figures for them, and he is seen from time to time over on Timelines and on the figures forum of Missing Lynx. If someone wanted to post the Peddinghaus link on Timelines and ask John about it, I'm guessing he would pass it along to Jim and get his view on it. When the subject of recasts of S&T figs was brought up on Missing Lynx, John was pretty adamant that S&T was NOT out of business but on "hiatus". I guess the difference being that Jim plans to bring the line back at some point. If thats the case, it would be odd I think that he would be letting someone else recast his stuff.

Boxes, perhaps.

I attempted to contact Rosengrant before about other matters, but never received a response.

I'm not active over at Missing Lynx or Time lines.

Odd yes.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

to the gentleman which is so demented in his concerns how i could dare to buy this figure
as the figure market is so small you see an coming and going of figure making companies every year.
so if you like an figure which is offer by an COMPANY you can of course do reserach and try to research if thes company have the rights to offer these....in last end you will never buy an figure because you have no time sepnet to do some painting.one sees old molds rereleased from other companies again and again.at moment poste militaire is reappearing.or bareton which went then to kitney and commpany and shall be in trade the next months again.
well if you have no other things to do.i did simply buy it.thats all.
maybe you should ask yourself if you are moralic only because its concerning your hobby.on the other hand did you ever purchase while in hollday shoes shirts or other stuff?
in all holliday countries wich are visited by westeners you have this markets and they are booming.
so what do you want from me.shall i kill myself because i simply bought an figure from an reknow german dealer and manufaturer of decals, without first spending some weeks in exact reserach???????????????????
and if its an recast then i have bought and painted it neverless so i will not toss it in the toilett and feeling guilty for it.
maybe i am only honest.i ask myself WHO buys this recasts of busts and figures at ebay at all.......i think they must be modellers and painters neverless.because no other normal peole will buy such crap.
so if these recasters are doing well then an very big percentage of modellers must be dirtbags wich go for the cheap alternative
if it would be not so the chinese chaps would close their casting facilties-thats the turn of this world

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

Some months ago, a legit manufacturer from Poland
released a few figures that are mix-matched
frankensteins with parts from various companies.

When I contacted the Polish company, they played
dumb and said they just got them from a guy who
had bought them from another guy... and so on.

I have a feeling that this will go down the same road.
Will see.

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

Markus or Pinsel

Let it be. If you want to support such re-casters it is your choice but as you have read here you will find no one here who would support such a thing.

If you know how much Enthusiasm, time and money you need to make that business and then to read here that some people said "Re-caster? Why not", I think you were a little bit out of topic

Re: Peddinghaus - 1/16 - Deutscher Panzergrenadier - EP1495

seems you have morals in your hands are you GOD???
when you are so moarlistic then you should
not condem an person which bought such an figure and makes no apologizses for this as supporter of illegal recasters
at present moment dear friend this is pure guesswork by some overhysteric chaps which think they have to comment any fart on this wide planet.
AT PRESENT MOMENT AN COMPAY IS CONDEMED TO SELL ILLEGAL RECASTS WITHOUT ANY PROOVE
as long the orginal holder does not comment this case no one has the right to say so.
next time i will ask for an bloodtest before i dare to buy an figure.
question .is on shows on which painted figures are shown asked for the receipt or bill of the original compay which is maker of the minature?
because when painted up no one sees this.i want not to know how many have been shown painted up l wich are not kosher.
if this is not the case then i would as holder of an show ask for the bill that the figure is an original-otherwise i would not accept it in the painters class.
well not all painters which show their stuff on shows are stars which are bombarded with samples from all sides.some crap painters must buy them and such might be tempted to buy an cheap recast
well only an guess.but only with this one could gurantee that all entrys are clean.
the story of the bad recasting quality is prroven wrong if one reads the comments of the happy buyers of the.i hasten to add that those are all creatures of the lowest level.
