I didn't know where to put this so I suppose The Lounge is as good a place as any.

If you have an iPad/iPhone running iOS 8 then there is a nifty little feature tucked away in the settings menu. Go to Settings->General->Accessibility->Greyscale and flick the switch. Why is this nifty? Well, guess what, I'll tell ya :)

Now open up the Camera app and point the lens at your latest piece. Now, automagically and instamatically, you can see if your values and contrast need a bit of tweaking without getting distracted by all that lovely colour.

I just did a quick Google and apparently this feature is also on android devices too. I haven't got one handy so I can't confirm it.

My Samsung tablet has an 'up-arrow' at the bottom of the screen when you go to camera mode. Tap on that and you get a number of effects, one of which is grey scale.

Cheers,
Andrew

I stick to using custom settings and turning saturation down as low as possible (-100 on HTC Android). Greyscale doesn't go quite far enough ;)
