Hi folks, thought I would share this with you, a figure I did last year.

That's a beauty Steve. This one has been on my list since I saw Luca's version.

Thanks Kieth, I would have to say its one of those kits that nearly paints itself.

Nice work overall Steven, I like the armour especially. It may be the photo but the flesh looks a little monochromatic to me, I'd suggest a little more variety. Ditto with the hair, a little difference between beard and hair colour is common, not to mention that he'd probably show some grey at the age he's depicted.

On a historical note, with figures from this period I would make an effort to ensure that the heraldry on shield and surcoat/jupon aren't this close. In addition to the technical difficulty in getting colours to match (pigment v. dye) the treatment of embroidered/applique charges should be quite evident in comparison to their painted counterparts on the shield. The painted surface of shields I think should also have some sheen as a rule, which if nothing else help differentiate them from the typical matt finish we use for fabrics.

Thanks for the comments Einion, the trouble with the heraldry on the shield and the body was it came sculpted on the figure but I do wish now I had removed it and freehanded the heraldry.

Thanks for the tip about the hair and beard, having had a beard for a few years of my life you are quite right about the colour differences and I am frustrated with myself for not really making that more apparent. I shall endeavour to correct these points that you mention including a few wisps of grey.
