Thanks for your comments and for taking the time to look.
The wood of the shield was basecoat acrylics Vellaho Raw wood. Then oils with first coat Burnt sienna and then a rough flat brush to streak with brush strokes to simulate grain. Then select lines with Raw umber featherd into the Burnt sienna and then highlights with Yellow ochre with white added. Some knots and board separation with strong Raw umber.
The leather was base coated with Andrea brown leather. Then a coat of brown oil and highlighted with yellow ochre. Recesses done with Raw umber and second leather highlights with yellow ochre and white.
