About a week ago I e-mailed Jeff about purchasing one of his figures, but have as yet had no reply.

It'd been maybe 3 years since I last purchased from him (I don't do so much WWI/II stuff these days) but I do recall that he was always quick to reply to enquiries (within a day or so), which makes me wonder whether he's temporarily dropped off grid for whatever reason.

I do also remember someone saying in another thread a while back words to the effect that Jeff is very picky about who we sells to these days because he's become very precious about recasters pirating his stuff. Which on the one had is understandable, but on the other hand seems kind of self-defeating if he's ignoring potential business from perfectly legit punters (if indeed that is the case).

So my question to The House is this: Has anyone else had any recent dealings with him and/or know what's occurring at Shiu Towers? I double checked the e-mail addy that I used and that was OK.

I believe Jeff is Pinkfloyd on this site, and he has just posted his new Rommel figures, perhaps you could send him a message..

Yeah saw that this morning and messaged him. No reply as yet, we’ll see what happens.

I don't like his stuff so don't have any dealings with him but this subject comes up on here time and again with him.

Why ignore people? Not the way to run a business.

No I don’t get it either. The ultimate irony would be if he’s so worried about recasters that the only ones selling his stuff are recasters.

And the silence is still deafening.

Jeff Shiu is located in Hong Kong. Today January 22nd is Chinese New Year, business is closed for at least 4 to 7 days for the celebration.

I remember reading a post here that Jeff has relocated to the UK.
He could still celebrate Chinese New Year there of course, good point.

Chinese New Year or not, he was on here yesterday promoting his Rommel set, and his profile says he was back on pF again this morning.

I did an order on Monday and he answer back??? and everything is OK,also Tuesday and Wednesday I hear Jeff ,it's the first time I did a order there, and he is very kind.

Jeff finally got back to me, took my order and I'm happy to say that normal service has been resumed. My guess is that I simply got lost in the mix somehow.

Good afternoon! I would like to ask for advice regarding purchasing sculptures from Jeff. I wrote to him 2.5 weeks ago, he responded the same day and sent a PayPal invoice, which I paid immediately. Since then, silence, I wrote to him 2 more times but he does not respond to mail . Is this normal and should I wait or just cancel the order?

It is a while since I placed an order at Jeff's Company. His service was always reliable but without tracking details. If he sent you an invoice and you paid it I would wait some more time. I am sure everything will be okay.

Thank you very much! It's just that the situation is really strange, I read on the forum about various problems with orders, but this didn't happen.

Jeff Shiu is a reputable seller, but only a one man operation (I think) so it’s not surprising if communication can be on and off.
I recently discovered one of my purchases of several years ago missed legs. After contacting Jeff by email, he sent me a replacement part at no charge. When that didn’t arrive several weeks later, I contacted him again and he re-sent me another replacement, which did arrive after about 3 or 4 weeks (Hong Kong to Europe). This is really good service and I can warmly recommend buying from Jeff.

Hope your case gets sorted as well!

Jeff is indeed a reputable seller, but his service can be a bit chaotic & unpredictable - possibly because as a one-man band he sometimes struggles to keep all his plates spinning.

However he's become so paranoid about recasters that he's now started asking would-be buyers to send photos of their hand next to previous purchases to somehow "prove" that they are bona-fide punters (I know of at least two cases of this - one a personal friend of mine, the other I saw on Facebook).

I get that recasting is an issue, but it's not unique to Jeff and I know of no other manufacturer who makes customers jump through hoops like that. Maybe it's just me, but I find it a tad OTT.

I read about these problems on the forum, but in this case he answered me right away, thanked me for the purchase, sent a pay pal invoice and then disappeared. It would have been better if he had asked to send a photo :)
