Well it's embarrassing, but it has been almost a year since I last put paint to brush. However, I am happy to be back and look forward to getting more done over the winter months.

Last year I painted a 28mm Oniria miniatures vignette from "The Searchers" movie. This year I decided to paint Andrea's 54mm version of John Wayne from the same movie. I love the sculpt and have been wanting to do it for years. Finally got it done.

The figure and steer skull are direct from the kit with no modifications. However, I replaced the kit base with what has now become my standard "Southwestern style Slate and Magic Sculpt" combination. I covered my technique for creating such a base in previous posts if you are interested.

All painting was done with Vallejo, Reaper and Citadel acrylics.

Thanks for looking...
Ken

Thanks Bob! Not sure what to do with the base work when I run out of western figures. ;) Then again, I have a lot of western figures...:)

Cheers,
Ken

Thanks Malc! I agree. I'll be 73 in a few months and my wife and I celebrate our 50th anniversary on the 14 of this month. I have many "heroes" that I admire, not all perfect, but John Wayne is definitely one of them.

Cheers,
Ken

Ken great work and congratulation on the milestone. My wife is 82 and I am 80 and we celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary 26th of this month. Our three kids have all been divorced some twice??
Enjoy the milestone.
Cheers
John
