The third 1/6th bust from Carl for Stu at Stormtrooper Miniatures which I have been eagerly awaiting.

This one is a Confederate Infantryman from the 4th Texas Volunteers.

I did the usual preping and washing before the primer coat.

I think he looks super and the torn tunic and tear in his hat really sets off this old boy, there is some nice texture to his blanket across his chest.

Hope to get started paint splashing tomorrow.

Off to the races already...… I really like this piece.... Personally, I would run the base stem down from where the neck would be and butter up the inside a bit to get a better 3/4 or side view. But that's just me; some old guy picking apart your work before you even started. Anyway, looks to be prepped very well so keep up the good work.....

Looking forward to watching this develop Geoff. Very reminiscent of the Texan flag bearer climbing the fence that Carl sculpted for Stormtroopers. Any ideas yet which way your going re uniform shade-butternut, grey?

Neal

Hi Paul, Thanks I certainly hope so, both the new ones are really nice.

Stu's service is excellent ordered, ordered Wed evening, dispatched Fri. morning and delivered Sat morning.

Geoff

Agree re Stu's excellent customer service. Let's hear it for Royal Mail too, getting it to you within 24 hours, especially in these testing times.

This guy is awfully tempting, but somewhere in my GGA is John Rosengrant's Johnny Reb released by S&T back in the 90s. I may still weaken though. I also agree about the resemblance to the Texas color bearer.

Many thanks Guys, I'm unable to do any more for a few days but hopefully shall continue the end of the week.

Appreciate all your comments and no idea of the uniform colour yet Neal until I do some internet research.

Cheers
Geoff

Hi Neal, I have looked in my copy of Windrow & Embleton's Military Dress of North America 1665-1970 and decided it will be some sort of Butternut with a dark slightly shiny "Gum Blanket" wrapped around his chest as the old "Johnny Reb" seems to have been quite a casual dresser;)
