Tony,
I must admit, that is by far the most realistic looking contrast between pink & healthy and KIA.

Deftly handled, blood probably about right. Blood is hard, and you seem to have a touch for handling effects well. (including mud, sweat, wear & tear)

Again, you manage to pull a project off, just with enough time to spare!

Well done (y)

Cheers

Jamie

When Tony e-mailed the finished photos, I was overwhelmed. Actually to tell the truth, I got a catch in my throat. I think Tony evoked all the tragedy without over-doing anything - blood, mud, difference in facial color, you name it. That's hard to do!

Congrats Tony and Thanks!

All the best,
Dan

Jamie, Dan and Carl,

It seems I've hit the right notes with this one. Yeah!!

Dan, thanks for giving me the opportunty to paint this vignette. I'm really pleased you reacted to it so strongly.

Tony i cant believe the transformation you achieved between the last pictures and these last ones of the final peice, the weathering and blood has just added a very atmopheric part to it that was much needed to make it effective, great job mate and i can see why Dan is so pleased with it.

All the best mate,

Steve(y)

Hi Mitsutaka, thank you my friend I appreciate your comments and I'mglad you likeit.

Hi Steve, thanks mate, I'm glad you like the way it turned out. Lots of pastel chalk was stipled on over a couple of hours and some delicate Cad Red washes to make the blood look dark, as if it had soaked into the cloth of the uniform.

CT-Guards Ghost Image

On the Great War forum, one of the members who goes by CT-Guards, posted this ghost image of the vignette. Tony and I both think it was beautifully rendered and thought you might like to see CT-Guards talent. He invites a PM on Great War forum from anyone who would like to see an image processed in similar fashion or maybe just the quality of the image improved.

Thanks again to CT-Guards for doing this for us!

All the best,
Dan

Thanks Mike, Dan and I are both very proud of this piece and very pleased that so many people have felt the emotional power of the piece.

You both should be very proud, it's a wonderful piece you have created something very special.
Well sculpted and painted,
Well done Tony and Dan.
