Well Don your club is one of the first IPMS shows I have heard of using the open system even if it is not universally used. So More power to you guys. The mention of it seems to be fighting words for a lot of the local IPMS guys I have meet.

The Orlando FL IPMS Club used the open system recently to great success. There was some grumbling, but it was minor and the concept was well received by some die hard 123 advocates. Based upon some of the exit pollings, there should be a good turnout for entires the next time around. Randy Riley, a Pf member, can probably give you more input on it as it was his baby and he did much of the leg work and selling the concept with help from Anthony and the other figure guys at Orlando that are figure show vets. Their ability to bring it into this region's IPMS as successfully as they did made alot of converts for the concept and will no doubt have an effect on future conversions in other clubs.

IPMS Three Rivers in Pittsburg has been using open judging for skome time and used it in an IPMS regional convention. The guys who put on this year's Region 1 convention experimented wirh some open catergories on a limited basis.

Well it sounds as if some cracks are appearing in the IPMS's forcefield. I am very glad to hear this. It seems there is hope that things can change. :-D

Derek Dont know if you were with us at Euro one year, Brian was judging and a chap pulled out a magnifying glass, the better to judge by.
Brian lost the plot and had to bring over the senior judge to explain to the chap why he could not judge using a magnifying glass.
Ask Brian next time you see him.

Don
I was about to use his scrotum as my tobacco pouch.

Talking of the Open system vs 1-2-3, one of the "big" shows here after repeated complaints about mediocre models getting placed, just changed 1st 2nd and 3rd to Gold Silver Bronze...... yes 1 Gold, one silver and one Bronze in each category I kid you not!!! Left a lot of modellers scratching heads -

Brian, notwithstanding the great line :), I'm just curious - why the objection? Not looking to be combative or disrespectful, just trying to gain some insight, as I have not yet had the opportunity to visit Euro.
