Hate!
One day ago Napoleon's "Grande Army" crossed the border river Nyemen and invaded Russia.
The Russian army avoids battles with the (still!) Superior enemy, withdraws as planned into the interior of the country and leaves the attackers with "scorched earth".
The French and their allies don't know much about their Russian opponents - and most Russians don't know anything about the enemy either.
However, there is a lot of hatred involved between Napoleon's Polish troops and the Russians from the start!
This may be illustrated by the following incident ...:
As part of the so-called "Western Army" under Marshal Mikhail Bogdanowitsch Barclay de Tolly ...
... the Russian VI corps is marching too under Lieutenant General Dmitrij Sergejewitsch Dochturow ...
This corps also includes the 7th Infantry Division, with the 12th light artillery brigade.
A lieutenant...
... in this unit, Nikolaj Mitjarevskij, narrated the following story:
A patrol of Polish lancers ...
... takes two regimental priests on June 25, 1812 ...
... from Mitjarevskij's unit as prisoners who had lost their way.
The Poles first give the two clergy emetics, then tie them chest to chest, tie their beards tightly (so that they are forced to throw up in each other's faces) - and send them back to the Russians in this condition ...
