Hi all,
With help from great people here and at Armorama, I got the information I needed to fix the face on my Verlinden "Devine Wind" kamikaze bust.
First, here's a picture of the face as i originally painted it:

And here's a picture of it after repainting:

It may look a little shiny here. It's because it's still wet. After it dries, I'll be doing the "wet-on-dry" shading and highlighting.
I'm much happier with the face now. The suggestion of just ading more Yellow Ochre and T. White really did the trick.
I'd still like to ask for your comments and constructive criticism.
Thanks for the help :),
Craig

Craig-

I think that it looks much more authentic. I look forward to seeing the rest!

Keith,

Much better than the pinkish first round. I don't know if it's the lighting, or shininess but it does look a tad too yelowish now. Keep in mind that the Japanese are sort of a "pale olive" complexion. I think if you went in between the first round and the second, you'd be dead on.

It does look much better though.

Hi Craig,

I liked the first skintone, only it wasn't oriental looking. Now he sure does. Very well done and I applaud your courage to start the face all over again.

Please keep us updated,

Gino

Hey craig,

It looks good. Yes, the skin tone is Asian: slightly yellowish. As for the sheen, it's ok as our face tends to be slightly oily.

regards

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the feedback. Your assistance has been a great help to me.
I have a terrible time trying to take good, consistant photographs of my work. This last picture turned out a little dark. Which may account for it looking too yellow (I'm guessing here ).
Now, for the secondary shading...I'm thinking that I should skip using the Brown Madder Alizarin in favor of Burnt Umber. I'm thinking the BMA will be too red and that the BU will compliment the skintone better. If I can, I'll wait until the book that Lou Masses told me about arrives. It should have the answer to this. I'm just itchy to keep working on this piece :).
Thanks again,
Craig

Hello again,
I did the secondary shading ahd highlighting and wanted to hear what you all thought of it.
As recommended, the shadows were done with Burnt Umber and the highlights were done with Naples Yellow. Thanks to you Lou for recommending this. I really like how it worked.

Mongo Mel, that's very good.

I already liked the first version for it brought out the features of the face well but this is even better for the ethnic skin type.

Your courage to rework has paid off !

Let's see more :)
