Hopefully I am able to insert images now ... so at last I am in as well with my other Maltese friends ... so guys here is my first picture post on PF ... it's Karl XII king of Sweden done by the Augie. This is a limited cast of 100, mine is 65 very historical accurate typical of the sculptor and full of character. Karl does not seen to be the best good looking guy around, infact our warrior king is scared from an early battle he had with small pox ... the bust is resin, very sharp and all these features are captured, apart from the detailed hair and fur textures. Thi figure is available [if still there are!] from Augie's directly ... visit his site for further details!

Painting was done with oils ... wet on wet , then wet on dry and glazes. To acheive the matt finish especially for the blues ahd to work a lot with the painting oven ... so looking forward for your views?

PS - Could someone point out what is the best proportion to post images I am using Photoshop at 150dpi images but I am seeing a lot of pixels ... sorry for bad image!

Ivan

Hello Ivan,

Great rendition of Augie's bust!

About posting pics on the forum, I found 500/600 pixel-high is a good size for most monitors. As for resolution, 72 dpi is the norm for Internet. You don't need more.

This would help reduce the weight of your file and speed up its loading.

I took the liberty to apply the above changes to your picture. I also removed the yellow cast. Hope you like it.

Cheers,
Quang

Excellent painting Ivan!

I always thought the scars on his face were way out of scale and looked pretty bad, but you have really made a nice bust out of it.

Hope to see it at Euro!!

Hi guys

Thank you for the comments and tips ... especailly to Mr Quang, you managed to arrange somthing I was playing around a lot yesterday ... you still have the designer touch mate! Unfortunetly the yellow haze came from using neon lights, I tried my best in levels and curves in Photoshop but did not manage the touch ... did you worked it in RGB or CMYK?

Anders small pox victoms get worst then that, though surely wont look good and attractive in a bust, so the best result I tried is to notice sever acne faces as an idea and get the texture and contrasts ... looking forward to meet you in Euro, I have been admiring your work and sculpting on PF and would like to see them in flesh ... besides the restrictions for getting them to UK ;)
PS - I would like your opinion in a conversion I have posted in the sculpting section [Prussian LtGen WW1] ... would appreciate help from a 1/35 expert !

So guys hopefully to meet you next week and fingers crossed with the figures ...

Ivan

Hello Ivan,

RGB is the adequate mode for the Internet but it doesn't matter if you're working in CMYK. The procedure is the same.

To remove the yellow cast, go in 'Image' > 'Adjustments' > 'Colour Balance' and play with the sliders.

Another quicker method would be to adjust the white balance on your digicam PRIOR to shooting the pic. This should apply everytime you change the nature of the lighting (daylight, fluorescent, incandescent, ...).

See ya in Folkestone. :)

Hola Ivan,

Yeah, its nasty, but it dont look good in miniature if you know what I mean.

Looking forward to meet you as well! I wont bring anything finished but more then likely will bring some WIP stuff.

Cant wait!!
