A Fixture
The Indian Army developed the KD Pattern Clothing to better fit their climate. Most of this clothing was made in India, shipped to depots in Egypt and issued to British soldiers there to replace the standard wool khaki uniforms. KD clothing, like most of WW1 period clothing, was colored using mostly vegetable-based dyes which were not as color fast or as uniform in color as we are used to.
Most of these photos were originally posted on the Great War Forum, 1914-1918.invisionzone.com/. It's forum, The Paraphernalia of War, dealing with uniforms, weapons and equipment, is an excellent reference.
