Does anyone play wargames?
Occasionally, a mate and I lock horns (in a friendly, competitive manner).

Today we had a small armour and infantry clash in "Normandy".
We rolled dice for sides, and where to start on the table.
I drew the Whermacht, Dave (not me) played the Brits.

I won the race to the farm, disgorged my infantry into the buildings (strong point) and ran riot amongst his infantry and anti-tank guns with mg-armed half-tracks.
High attrition rate amongst AFVs.
A good game. I used C19 tactics with C20 equipment.
It seemed to work, but if we do it again I should stop deploying in the open

I'm sure there are others who play historical games, but I'm also sure we have a growing contingent who play fantasy/sci-fi wargames, too, whether it's Warhammer or other types.

I used to play 20mm WW1 and 2 wargames and also 15mm ECW. This led me to sculpting and making masters for several companies, usually vehicles and scenics - and more than a few figures!

Yes I play along with the other TFB guys great fun. Mostly ACW at the moment just small actions but a whole lot of fun. I have a British AWI army and a union army, Ian has an AWI army and a confederate and he’s just starting to put together a Franco Prussian army together. terry is mad on WW2 which is great fun. And Eric has 4 Napoleonic armies. So between the 4 of us we have a good choice of periods to keep our interest. I have a spare room which acts as our meeting room a couple of nights a week a beer and pizza great fun highly recommend it.

As the wives and girlfriends say we know where you are lol bless them. Boys and their toys. We all use Perry’s Miniatures mostly. They have great details.

We also play the old Avon hill and SPI board games they can be a lot of fun too. Love squad leader brilliant game.

We just started to play an Alien board game based on the movies, lots of fun got our older grandchildren playing which is great. They are into space marines and all that stuff. Still it gets them painting and away from the bloody computer games. Who knows we may tempt them into historical stuff. Ian’s granddaughter likes to build aircraft totally different but the other kids it’s all War Hammer bless them .

I have been playing for 35 years off and on. I found that the Napoleonic era is the most fun. I never owned an army I would just show up to local games or regional events. Pay my $20 and play until the wee hours of the morning. ACW is good as well. It is a little more strict in troop movements but still fun to play.
I tried a WWII Pacific game and everything came to a halt. At anytime you were in the open you got destroyed. The only thing that saved the game was a single Stuart tank introduced at the half way mark. He just rumbled across the no mans land and took out everything. I was still bogged down and just sat there twittling my thumbs.
If you ever play a WWII armor and infantry game, never underestimate how far and how fast armor can move on the board. I have had my generals stars taken away from me too many times thinking I can defend in depth. When I draw the assignment to defend from the hat. I attack as fast as I can and get in close and slug it out. Usually my opponent is expecting me to be dug in waiting for them to come to me. So surprise!!!
I also bring in painted busts and donate them for the raffles. It is fun to see it picked up and the smile on the new owners face.

Enough rambling, time to go paint.

Yup that’s my thing. It’s how I made the transition to display historicals which I didn’t even know existed until seeing Danilo Cartacci’s book on a war game store online. I’ve always played more of the sci-fi and fantasy stuff but have also dabbled in historicals. What scale is your game? I love the small scale 6mm for historical wargaming. It looks like sorta a real battle.
