As a returning newb, I have been working on several figures getting them ready to start painting again. On of the ones I'm working on is the Medal-modeles, Cuirassier, this is really a beautiful kit. Looking at it, the sword is way to soft. I tried soaking it in Viagra overnight but it didn't do much. Seriously, how do you deal with things like that? I can see substituting brass rod for lances, but what about swords, etc. Since this is a fairly plain weapon, I was wondering about making some kind of metal blade. The thought of spending so much time painting it and having a pitiful weapon, seems unacceptable. Maybe I should have set a picture of Lindsay Lohan, next to it during the soak?

Hello Kurt!

Great to have you back.

Sometimes I replace the blade with one that I make out of Plastic Card or Magic Sculpt. If I use Magic Sculpt I usually insert a piece of pianowire in it to strenghten it. I wait for it to harden and then I carve the blade out. It isnt that hard and you use the supplied blade as a guideline.

You could also try to make a groove in the supplied blade, glue a piece of pianowire into the grove with Expoxyglue and fill the remains of the groove.

Cheers
