Not believing in your product enough to risc your own money.

Im skeptical about the whole idea. Last time this was up I asked what happends to the money donated should the goal never be reached?
I have yet to see an answer for that.

Often there is too much difference between the finnished product and the 3D graphic/sketch/drawing too make me suspect.

Well, Im dont see me as cynical. Just want to know all the terms before parting with my money.
Lets say that I pay up, and the product does not have the quality to be expected?

Where you go from that?

That being said there probably are things I could sponsor. Have yet to see that though.

Cheers

Although I have never contributed to a kickstarter and probably never will, my belief is that the money you pledge for a kickstarter is not taken out your Bank account until the asking amount is reached and the product is available. Therefor if the kickstarter fails, you dont lose your money. Different way of doing business I guess, and all forms of industries are using it. A lot of budding movie makers use it to finance what the big Movie houses wont touch due to them not fitting their Criteria of mega dollars!!!!

Kickstarting is based on funding projects through micro investment.
The money is taken once the target is hit!
A failed project means no return for investors.
Success means your in at the start and get the final product and often many extras at the original investment price.

I have a friend who kickstart invests several mythos projects every year, he is soon to receive Cthulhu monopoly!
And achtung Cthulhu is starting to deliver various initial PDF products...

A fun if slightly risky idea!

Where does the money go? I presume to commission the sculptor, perhaps buy equipment and some ads etc? I know the recent Veronica Mars film was kick started. They wanted $2 million and got almost $6. It's also used in the board wargaming community where publishers need a base commitment before thery can justify incurring big printing costs.

So if you can plug into something that a lot of people want, you might do well. The obvious question is: if a lot if people want it why isn't an established provider already doing it?

I presume it makes sense where you have a niche interest and no distribution chain....or no start up capital. I wouldn't criticize it but haven't seen anything I would sign up for.

Reaper miniatures in U.S.A in 2012 had a kickstarter that reached #3 on most funded kickstarter projects They shipped 17,000 rewards for that project in 2013. They have raised several million dollars on one of there kickstarters.

My understanding is if the goal in not reached or surpassed the funds are not sent to the kickstarter project and returned to the individual.

Check out Michael Kontraros who had a kickstarter on here with his Vampire Queen. He is a wonderful dealer and individual and proved very reliable. That kit is beautiful.
Cheers,

Ill go along with what John has said, in the case of Micheal Kontraros great guy to do buisness with as well as a superb sculptor and a nice person
I have backed, similier funds for figures and extras that are good value,Figone have one reached at present that I have supported, as
I like the subject and the sculptors work, plus the extra figures you get are worth the price. Your choice of course, but it seems to be with us. . you must of course have faith in the sculptor/product. but thats maybe the risk you take, but you are refunded if the project fails.
