Hi All,
This is my diorama I finished for the online competition. I first had the idea to do this in 2005 when I first saw a black and white photo in a Panzer wrecks book. (see pic below)
The Tank is 1/35 from Meng Models. This built up really well. Although the box art displayed the tank with Zimmerit, there was no detail on the tank or photo etch in the kit. I made the effect using humbrol filler & textured it with a mini screwdriver before it dried. The tank was painted in acrylics & the metallics were done with Dark stars paints. I managed to find the decals for the exact tank from Star Decals. The tank was then weathered with washes & pigments
The figures are from Masterbox. I haven't built any injection molded figures for a long while & was impressed with the detail Masterbox figures have. These were all painted in Vallejo & Life color acrylics.
The building I believe was from Verlinden (had it for years so cant really remember). This was painted with artist acrylics & was weathered with pigments. Microscope glass was broken up & used for the shattered glass effect. A brick mold was used to make the bricks. Plaster of paris mixed with red paint worked well. Pieces of broken balsa wood were added to help with the mess.
The cobblestone road was made using air dry clay. I found a thin piece of tin & bent it to the stone shape I wanted and used it as a stamp. The small bridge was created in the same way. The water effect was done with AK Interactive Muddy Water Effect. Static Grass & grass tufts were used on the banks & finally some mixed herbs were added randomly for the dried leaf effect.
This was a really fun project & am pleased I finally managed to get myself into gear to build it.
Comments Welcome.
Cheers
Steve
