Buccaneer
1/9th scale white metal
Sculpted by Joachim Lindman
Box Art by Mike Blank
6 parts
The Buccaneer arrived by mail today When I opened the package I was amazed at the detail that has been sculpted into the bust. When I first saw it was being cast in white metal I was a little apprehensive as most white metal busts are heavy with seam lines. Not so with this bust and the casting is beautifully done with small minute seam line. The back of the bust is well executed with a smoothness that just adds quality to this type of bust. After 34 years in the figure world I would have to say the Buccaneer is one of the finest detailed castings I have seen since Poste Militaire first introduced theirs. I was also amazed at the fineness of the knife detail and how it fits with a small peg into the mouth........Excellent!!! The hat is also another welcome surprise with the fine detail of the cloth you have achieved and cries out to be painted. I really feel Mike did not do the bust justice with his painting and the detail is still hidden there for the painter to bring out.
Packaging
The figure is packed in bubble wrap inserted into a soft cardboard box and arrived from Sweden intact and all parts intact.
Color Guide
The color guide is pronted on both sides and cites several refferences
Parts
The kit is comprised of 6 finely cast white metal parts with the smallest being the earring for the left ear.
The head is cast seperetly and has a located peg to align it in the exact position on the shoulders. The detail is amazing as to the teeth and between 2 teeth is the locater hole for the knife to fasten to.
The shoulder assembly is beautifully sculpted with the folds of the shirt and the bandana tied around the neck superbly done.
The knit cap is expertly sculpted and with detail as to the cloth that they were made of. Will be beautiful when painted and set off the figure.
I haven't seen a knife sculpted like this since the Poste Militaire days and Joachim has done an excellent job with this weapon.( I eagerly await to see his other weapons in the future )
I tacked the parts together to give the members an idea how this bust would look on a base. The small coin like white metal base that comes with the figure will easily fasten to any finished wooden base.
Overall This bust is a beautiful rendition of the Buccaneers we have all read about since we were younger and would look great next to La Torre's Pirate in my case.
