Well, If I had a pretty penny or two I'd have all the Dickens figures as he was a local fella and I'm a bit of a fan!

Sorry Rusty for posting this here, but I've got a couple of thoughts I need to get off my chest.

OOP figures and their value?

There's a programme in the UK called 'Antiques Roadshow' where the public take along their heirlooms to be valued by experts. One programme dealt with some railway memorabilia, including some original station signs. The expert said that although the current price was high for such memorabilia, the price would fall once those that remembered steam had died out.

It makes you wonder (with the average age of a figurine modellers of about 45ish?) if our own hobby will have had its 'heyday', of individual figures commanding very high prices, or if one day perhaps no-one would be interested enough in our unpainted lumps of resin?

I know some have tried to milk it on Ebay, by asking ridiculous sums of money for 'rare
pieces' (John Rosengrant's 1/9th SS machine gunner! recast in China! for one!)

Any thoughts?

Jon.

No Rusty, I think your prices are very reasonable.

What I was trying to say is that the average age of the modeller these days seems to be 50-ish and getting older, and there are fewer hobbyists today than the modelling heydays of the 70s and 80s.

I was trying to suggest that perhaps in 10 or 20 years far fewer people would bid on or be interested in a rare figure and therefore the price would possibly fall. Just ramblings, please feel free to just ignore me!

Cheers,
Jon.
