Quick question ...

The putty (Greenstuff - Original Duro ) from Sylmasta

I am trying to use this for the basket work on my scottish sword .....

over 2 years old now , and it's taking a lot of mixing to get to a working colour of green ....

Does it go off ?

Any hints on working with this putty

Hi Nap,
Not an officianado by any means, but I think after a couple of years still should be okay. If you ask Google I'm sure you'll come across a conversation somewhere just asking this and hopefully an answer. You may need to warm it up a little to help it be easier to manipulate as I presume your in a cool environment. I would suggest storing it in the freezer as I have been doing since I bought a bulk lot in 2009 and it's in great nick. Could I suggest as others have and get your hands on milliput and mix roughly 50/50 as I'm finding this is great to work with along with some vasaline.

Just warm it up a bit Nap - in your sticky mits! It will soften and mix as it should then

Kev, it should be ok, but it does become less workable the older it gets. Use white spirit as a medium with tools for shaping and as the wet part of wet and dry if sanding.

Your subject heading is Kneadatite...that is a gray, single component,non-setting sealer, not an epoxy.

Yes, you are correct, I just checked out the name....guess I am showing my age! I only knew of the gray ropes.
