Kulmbach Show 09-11 August 2024

Good morning all,
Anyone coming to the Kulmbach show here in Germany next week ?
The show runs from Friday 09th August 09:00 O'clock until Sunday 11th August 12:00 O'clock.
I will be selling loads of old stock and am right next to my mate Frank miniatures in block A1 and A2.
Bill Horan will be there with his latest figures and it should be a great weekend.

What a pity, Pete, that I didn't read your post before I went to Kulmbach yesterday. I must have passed your stall a couple of times while hunting for more things to add to the ever-growing grey army.

Even though I managed to throw a glimpse at Mr. Horan himself, I must have missed out on his latest figures - they were not in the competition nor did I spy them anywhere else...

The competition itself was not as large as in some of the more well-known shows, and the majority of the entries were flat or semi-flat models (which I'm not that interested in), but the standards particularly in the advanced and master levels were up there.
Here is part 1 of the pieces that I really liked:

...and here is part 2. Unfortunately I don't know the names of most of the artists (with the exception of 'Milbenplage' and Martin Antonenko, who presented his Ukraine tryptich). Maybe somebody else can chime in here.
Beware of the last scene, depicting Stanley Kubrick & Malcom McDowell at the set of 'A Clockwork Orange' - it's a fantastic piece of imagination, modeling, painting and presentation, but it's also slightly ... graphic.

Bill Horan was in the competition and took best of show with his Hessen Cassell Jaeger which is now residing in my buddy Frank Konetzkes collection.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us, Karl! Do you happen to know any more information about the little 18th century diorama, with the lady on a swing? I'm curious to learn of those figures are original sculpts, or commercially available kits or castings. The 18th century is one of my favorite periods.

So far, no more infos on the various artists yet... But I assume the figures in the "Swing Diorama" were scratchbuilt or heavily modified originals.

Yeah that wouldn't surprise me if it were. I just saw a photo of another diorama, on the Figure Mad Forum, of Prussian fusiliers storming out of a gate. I thought those might have been Hecker & Goros in 54mm, but it turns out they are much larger, and scratchbuilt.

The Prussians storming out of the gate in in the dio from the competition are Preiser figures.

Right Brad and my buddy Frank Konetzke bought it off Bill and it is now in Franks cabinet.
