Great job!

I also like the grainy look of the photos. Atmospheric...!

Hi all,
sorry my subject matter is unsavory,
I am aware of what he did, and not blinded by the romance of the NAZI'S? and never will be!
My "bag" is COMMADO'S,Royal marine's,S.B.S, S.A.S,and so on!!!
You only have look at recent times,Gulf war,Bulkans, war crimes commited and very little justice carried out......War is not nice in reality, and those that servive are left with painful memories of what they had witnessed...........!!!!!!
The kit came as a pack of two,I painted the other figure, then on a whim painted this....
some months later........
If we let politics in the hobby we'd not paint alot NOW WOULD WE!
Best Regards
Paul

There are far better heroes and subjects to emulate
in the hobby than the constant parade of Nazi thugs and SS killers endlessly
marketed by manufacturers. But then again, if they had no tongue, some people
would have no taste at all. My humble opinion.
Doesn't sound humble at all. So you have a better taste than the rest?
Let's see what your version of refined taste is all about.

This is what you wrote here on July 30, 2009:
"My take on the lack of Japanese figures centers around their unbelieveable atrocities
and barbarism in WWII, including POW cannalbalism, random beheading of prisoners,
starvation of POW's, and medical experiments on POW's and civilians that out-Nazied
the Nazis. And you can read about the rape of Nanking if anyone wants more stomach-
churning details. No busts of Jap soldiers? Who cares."

First of all, "Jap" is not the most polite word. So what are you, a "Honky"?
This is a place where there is NO room for a righteous brother who aspires to be the forum's moral police. Give it up or get out.

Just my "in your face" opinion...

And Paul,
Don't apologize to this attention seeker. You haven't done anything wrong.

Very good paint job my friend!

Build your own figures pal...cast them...sell them...paint them...whatever.
You can make the Pope's bust if you like.

No Apologies

"Jap" and "Kraut" were perfectly good words used by millions of U.S. servicement who fought against them in WWII. However, there are two words definitely not in my personal vocabulary: Political Correctness. Last time I checked my Free Speech rights in this country, there were no asterisks re what I could and could not say.

Have a nice day.

But YOU didn't.

Nobody cares.

And modelers have the rights to build whatever they want without
being told what to build and what not do build.

Have a nice day.
I already did.

Rights

First right: Anyone certainly has the right to build/paint whatever they want. Just believe the obsession with Nazi Germany is deep and very strange. TNeat uniforms but the Nazis willingly caused millions of death in a a war of aggression (as did the Japanese) and (this will surprise many of their admirers)... they both lost.

Second right: I can express my thoughts in any way I choose (so far), whether anyone likes them or not.

Have a VERY nice day.

You like to repeat yourself, huh? Well, let me repeat myself then,
"NOBODY CARES".

Start your own thread if you want to voice your own personal belief and rights,
not where someone is just showing his work.

I very much like the toned down look of the painting on this figure, Paul.

I may not care for the subject matter any more than all those Crusaders spreading God´s love with their broadswords, lances, axes and maces. I can still appreciate a skillful piece of modelling and painting when I see it.

Military figures should provoke offence - killing is a nasty business under any circumstance. Yet it seems the further folk are distanced from events by time and culture, the less offence they can cause. Killing people for sport is frowned upon, yet we´ve seen some amazing Gladiator figures. I can understand tributes to heroism and valour, but was that Celtic warrior or Mongol archer equally as guilty of acts which would horrify me?

I never expected my tastes in modelling to upset others, yet have discussed them with some who felt their children should not be exposed to Darwinian concepts of Evolution and Natural Selection.

Spike.

Hi,
thanks' for looking one and all,
its only a painted figure,
I was unaware that P.F. could be used as a moral soap box???

I'm still waiting to be struck by lighting?.....................no still waiting!!!!

Very nice to hear from you spike, are you going to Euro or Gravesham shows?
It would be nice to see you and your work again,I didn't get much time to talk at Greavesham last year as I was cheif judge and up to my eyes making it all run ok.
Any way back to Devil worship and painting bits of plastic...
Best Regards one and all!

End of This Blog

My comments were not meant to be from a soapbox or moralistic. Morals are not the issue here - factual history is.

What was written were my personal observations re the hobby's ongoing obsession with the SS and Nazi figures. If people want to glorify them in paint, have at it. I enjoy a well-painted figure as much as the next person, but just get tired looking at the endless procession of Nazi figures.

Have an even BETTER day, guys and gals!

A broken record that plays a tune called "Beating a Dead Horse"...
and it goes, "I swear I saw it moved..."

I have a broken record myself over here, and it's called "Start Your Own Thread".
It's a classic.

Nappy, bottom line sunshine, if you don't like what you see in the hobby, start collecting stamps or something else, and an even better idea, keep your opinions to yourself, that way it stops any detraction from some very nice work, did you praise the poster for his excellent work, or were you just out to preach?
