Wake Up

If you'd bothered to read my initial post you'd see that I congratulated the painter on his work, taking issue only with his subject.

Re my personal opinions, I, like you, can state them whenever and wherever I please since we have that right in this country, despite all the political correctness crap. :)

Yes, but the first few words in your initial post are nothing but a prelude to what follows...
which turned out to be an old broken record.

Paul , superb painting, it'll be great to see it in the flesh at Euro. Many thanks for showing.

Shhh...Keep it quiet but I might post my painting of a Hitler Youth.;):D

Cheers Ken

Why Not

Hitler Youth, Concentration Camp Coomandants, Johan Peiper, Heinrich Himmler, Heydrich, Josef Mengele... the whole pantheon of Nazi heros. Why not...

Nappy....you made your point, now leave others to make their own democratic decisions about the genre they wish to paint and sculpt !!!

Do you go to Shows and stand there and criticise the modellers for their choice in subject matter? Do you berate them and rant on and on and on and on and on?

If you don't like the subject matter, fine, keep your opinions to yourself, everyone knows you don't like the Nazi's and anything to do with them, but you seem to forget that such subjects are miniature representatives of historical people and objects.

Do you have such a hardon for people like Ghengis Khan, who was quite partial to slaughtering thousands....Come on, give it a break, you made your point, let others have their say, after all as you say "Freedom of speach".

"I have a hard on for Ghenghis Kahn"
-------Mike Good, when asked why he watched the film "The Conquerer" 14 times in a row...

Just an addendum: You should see the look on the face of a Vietnamese guy I know when he was at an IPMS convention and someone asked him to take photos of a model of a B-52... most of his family was burned to death during Operation Arc Light.
The bad guys are always relative, depending from where you're looking at the subject from.

Why...

Why does everyone get so defensive about Nazi subjects? Aren't you proud to paint them? Just asking, guys.

Well that's the difference between you and many, i believe, of "us". We are not painting "nazis" to honour them. We paint a nice sculpted figure. I'm not proud of his deeds, (come on we were enemys during wwii, and we weren't even born), But i'll be proud if my finished figure is nice painted, and if it represent a real person, looks like him!
German subjects sell, i know but only because of their variety i believe! Come on Nappy1 it's just a hobby! We don't paint our political beliefs!

Nappy1 (Bill)?
I don't think for one moment I've defended the Nazi's ever!

Members of my family lost their lives fighting in the second world war, my father was a merchant seaman in WW2,my grandfather was persent at the first day of the Battle of the Somme WW1 with the Buffs (East Kent Regt) and was badly wounded,my great grandfather was serving in the Royal Navy at the same time, family and friends have been in many conflicts world wide,I'm PROUD of them all!!!
All the years of figure painting I've painted 4 germans from WW2.

Like you if I'm right??I've painted many British figures from the colonials to WW2,a few French Napoleonic's,Franco/Prussian war so on.
In my original post,I pointed out that Kurt Meyer came with another figure,I liked the pose so I painted it,then in the painting of it I looked up who he was,and found out to my cost, not one of the,run of the mill to say the least!
Most of the Nazi brass we're out of the looney bin,all barking mad and sadistic killers! The adverage trooper was a hard fighting and followed orders to the letter,I'm suprsed we managed to win or did we? if you look at Germany now!
Politics aside,if we only painted our winning side it would narrow things rather a lot!
You like to stamp your foot and make your voice known on this forum,I understand your point about the Nazi's,but there is little need for the constant rant?
If my figure offended sorry! my freedom to paint any subject I like,as you have!
Enough said.
Best Regards

Let's just let him go on with his jihad against WW2 German/Japanese figures.
No matter what, these figures are here to stay. If all these figures bother him
so much, it's something that he's going to have to deal with and will haunt him
for the rest of his life. Have fun with that, Bill. ;P

Paul

Looking forward to see this gem this Euro, inrelative to this stir of historical pandemonium I like to watch good painted figures ...

No Phil, That was "Pewee's Big Adventure". Peewee's rouge and lipstick make me blush!

"Evil" is indeed relative. Evil, by any other name is just selfishness. When you go around warring with other people it is always an evil thing and such activity always spawns atrocities. War is an atrocity. Personally, I don't even know why I make little army dudes. I find the whole war thing repellent.

But here I am making more little army dudes. Go figure.....
