Hey guys - another quick update...

Again, thanks for all the kind comments.

At this point almost everything is finished except the arms, some small details (weapons, horse reins, etc...) and the base. I hope to be finished very soon now. Please feel free to ask any questions...

Regards,
Phil

After seeing your 1st post, I was able to track the same figure on eBay and now have it on my workbench.
In which leg have you inserted pins and up to what level ?
I was thinking about inserting one in the leading leg up til the head but the metal is so thin ! Might also pin deeply the rear left leg and hide the pin with grass. I wish Pegaso and Romeo would cast their mounted figures with pins !

Hi Phil

Catching up a bit here ....

Great figure and the horse SBS is excellent and a great result

As for the rider ....great detail all over on the cuirass and helmet from you

Following with interest

Nap

PS how about a SBS on detail painting as well ?

Beautiful work and a very worthwhile sbs. Thank you so very much for sharing this process, you've provided some techniques that I'll try in the future. Fantastic!

Thanks Squiremon - I'm glad you found the info helpful :)

I have a pin in the front leading leg to about knee level maybe? The bit in between the hoof and ankle (the pastern) is ridiculously thin, but with some care and slow work, you should be alright. I used a very small Dremel on the slowest speed and a piece of wire with about the same diameter as a paper clip. One thing I also did (you can see this in the pics after the horse is on the base), is using 2 part epoxy, instead of gluing each leg individually, I essentially glued them all together into a single huge block of epoxy. I gotta say, after handling this thing for a little while now, it's pretty stable and robust...

I couldn't agree more - they should be totally casting their models with pins!!

Can't wait to see what you do with this - I bet it's going to look amazing (y)

Thanks Oda - still got to do the rice paddy base (which will take a little while, because all the water effects take at least 24 hrs to dry/harden), and then I can post some decent photos in the finished forum
