I'd like to ask a dumb question.

Every once in a while I see a bust or figure that is:
1) Clearly exquisite in execution ( like this one ! )
2) An interesting subject
3) Sculpted by a known craftsman
4) Cast by reputable folks

and....

I almost don't want to see it studio painted ( at least right away ).
I would almost rather see it released and painted by several of our talented members.
Then have the studio paint job released.

I know you need a quality studio render to box it and sell it open market.
But has anybody ever discussed selling a limited quantity ( 25 ? ) to a handful of
known artisans for interpretation first ?

Just a thought intended to catalyze a friendly, informative discussion....

Hi Chris...while I agree with your comment's and the idea of offering a limited number of figures to show different interpretation's is a good idea, I'm not sure in this competitive market place for manufacturers they could hold a new release and wait for feedback. I feel it would give other companies who don't participate an unfair advantage. It's always great to see painted subjects which give people like me inspiration, to be honest it's the box art that generally determines my purchases and I think that's as much we can expect from manufacturers..bearing in mind the cost of having it painted in the first place.
I hope I haven't taken your ideas out of context, I'm sure more experienced members on the forum can express their view better than me....enjoy the Xmas break and happy new year....John
