I'm not quite dead yet, still do some painting from time to time. Not as often as I'd like, but right now I suffer on serious lack of free time. Lately I managed to start two busts, one of them is this beautiful Landsknecht from SK Miniatures, sculpted by Yury Serevbryakov.
As normal for me, nothing is finished 100% but except of beret and black ribbon around his neck, everything is like 80-90% finished. And I can only hope I'll be able to finish it befor Euro;]

Please be merciless and let me know what need's to be fixed here.

It is a beautiful painting. IMHO just think the beard should be darker or painted with other tone to give contrast to those beautiful and realistic skin tones.

Cheers

Thx guys for your kind words.
I'll look into the beard tomorrow. I wanted him to be blond, but I might add some darken tones closer to the face, to make some sort of frame for the face.

I like your version beautiful work. I am building this bust now, mine is the Adamola 22 casting and much clean up is in progress . Should have it primed today.

I found out about this bust when Ademola 22 cast was unavaliable, luckily for me Steve bought casting rights and I was able to buy this little beauty (I have soft spot for Landsknechts;p)
Mine cast was pretty clean. I took some photos at the very beginning, I can post them if you like. The main thing that needed cleaning and some work in reshaping were feathers and the little stand that bust came with. At least I don't remember any more problems.

Thanks for the offer, I have this bust built but will need to fill in a few places. My casting was the grey resin. I did use your photos as a good reference for placing the feathers. This one has a great face and many options for paint colors. I have mounted my piece to a wood base with brass rod. Again you used a nice selection of colors.

Beautiful work Marta, great to see you painting again, lovely skin tomes and I love the choice of colours on the clothing, good luck with it next week at euro,I'll have a look next week

Well done Marta. As you can see i use the face of this bust as my avatar.Your version is top notch.

I love the way you have painted this. The flesh tones are superb with none of the exaggerated contrasts so common now. The use of colour and colour contrasts overall is superb. I look forward to see this close up at Euro next weekend.

The muted colours you have selected look fabulous and as aLandknetch should be - i.e. colourful without loking like a modern harlequin. Look forward to seeing this on the tables next week at Euro.
Gary

Absolutely superb brushwork. As Gary says, colourful without being gaudy and overpowering.

Thank you guys. I'm glad you like it.
I didn't have a chance to take final photos but I can tell you already that it managed to get commended badge at Euromilitaire last weekend;] In such a big and demanding category as Painted military bust I think it's a decent achivement;]

Hi Marta.

I echo Keith's comments above. In just about any other show, this would have been a medal contender. A magnificent piece you have there irrespective of any (formal) judgement from others.
