This diorama depicts the last stand of the Savannagh Volunteer Guard at the battle of Sailors Creek, 6th April 1865 - 3 days before Lee surrendered.
The diorama was inspired by the painting "Victory or Death" by renowned historical painter Keith Rocco, although no attempt was made to exactly copy Keiths marvellous work.
Most of the figures are stock Shenandoah with heads and arms swopped about, the standard bearer is a limited edition figure (25 figs) by Soldiercast (I got mine from Military Miniatures Warehose) and the flag itself was a private commission produced by Old Dominion Flag Decals.
The whole diorama is painted in oils throughout.

Danm thats very nice. I don't know to much about the civil war (mainly because i'm Australian). This vignette does give the impression of movement and it does look convincing.

Daniel :)

Very nice, so many figures, I can see the real effort and time you have put into this,
Cheers

nice composition, shenadoah figures are certainly very useful for vignettes and dioramas its a pity they seem to have stopped producing any new ones

Wonderful bit of work Big Man. You seem to be getting better and better at the dioramas and this one is super. You must have put a whole lot of work into this and I think it has paid off.
