Hi all!

At last, after 3 months, I've completed him:

You've seen him at various stages, and this is it!

BTW, first figure completed in a year, inspired to get to this stage by this forum.
Cheers Folks!!

Comments and Critiques please!

Very nice Rob, personally I wouldn't have been able to resist the temptation to turn him into something Byzantine wit hthat helmet.

How did you weather the shield in the end, and what do you sue for metallics ?

Richard

Cheers Guys!

Richard; after the shield was painted as per my last thread, I varnished it with acrylics, and then used oil paints to weather it - lots of different colours (raw umber, yellow ochre, sap green, white) as small dots, that were then blended with a large dry brush. I have to confess that I tried it a few times until I was happy, but with oils it was no problem. By varnishing it the oils didn't affect the painted shield colours to much.

Finally, when he was based, I used some MIG pigments I got from Euro on the lower shield that was also used on the groundwork.

Might tweak him some more

Gino: Perfect! I wish - you don't know him like I do! I guess we all find masses of faults in our own work.....

Rob

Excellent!
You've made pick my paintbrushes up again this evening (that, & the fact I've run out of milliput  )
The sheild "aged" nicely didn't it?!
Like the ground work too - you're keeping it like that I hope!
Simon

Rob,

Great work. I like the whole look of the figure. I have to questions, what are your flesh mixtures and what colors did you use for your groundwork. They both look really super. :)

Joe

Hi Rob,

great stuff! Love the weathering! Not overdone, just right. Keep up the good work and hope to see more from you!
cheers,

Calvin

Thanks again to all for the positive comments!

Hi Calvin! Glad to see you here at last! thought it might be your cup of tea, especially after seeing your Russian Tanker on ML.....

Frank; cheers mate - see you Wednesday, and you can see it for real!

Bosko: The red was acrylics initially (including shading), then 'filtered' with brick red enamel, and then edged in brown enamels over the red filter!

Joe: The groundwork was painted in Natural Wood Humbrols, then shaded with raw umber oil paint, drybrushed with a khaki mixed from oils (Shep Paine book still in use after 20 years), and the MIG pigments were used overtop of the groundwork - I like the dusty look! And Simon, yep, the groundwork will stay as is.....

Cheers

Rob
