Latest Pastel Painting

As figure painting is out of the question here at sea the pastels are back out. The inspiration for this one was a photo sent to me by Carl of a WWI French Fusilier Marin.
It doesn't look much like the photo but it passed a couple of afternoons.

When I got home I switched off from pastels and went into flat mode... brain can't cope with more than one hobby at a time.

Here's the latest, this one is based on a portait of a British Guards Officer c.1810. I won't tell you whose portrait so you won't know how bad the likeness is )
The gorget was really difficult and didn't turn out right at all but it was good practice for the next one.
