Cheers Cyrill, it's a very nice figure to paint. I use the AK stuff to thin the paint with rather than water, it gives an almost velvety quality to the finished product.

That's really something, Simon, I love it!
And thanks for the heads up about the AK stuff,it sounds ideal, I shall be stealing that.

Many thanks Neil, I don't enjoy the larger figures as much as my usual scale but they can be impressive and look good in the cabinet.

As for the AK stuff, you're welcome, I really love the stuff, I have a suspicion it makes the paint a little fragile for handling while painting, but a couple of coats of Ultra Matt seem to resolve that.

Are you up to another epic diorama yet?

sadly no, not yet. I've got some actual work to do and a mountain of household jobs to deal with, so I'm keeping my ambitions limited at the moment. In fact that's why I'm sticking to the painting practice, because that's my weakest suit. And individual figures give me quicker results than the deferred gratification of an epic- especially with the impatient way I paint!

Yes life does intrude into creative time and it's best not to rush into things, it happens when it feels right otherwise it doesn't really happen at all.

Good idea with the painting though it is something that needs practice to keep the skills, I know I can't go too long without painting before I forget the process and have to relearn the patience I need.

Keep plugging away at it mate, you never know you might even end up enjoying the painting!

Cheers Simon
