I would like to impart a slight sheen to leather clothing painted in oil. I will be spraying the figure with dull coat so I will probably lose the natural oil sheen. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to take Future and thin it down, like 3 to 1 with water and apply a thin coat. Let this dry, apply thin coats until you get the sheen desired. This effect can be built up slowly with the Future thinned down. The more you apply the shinier it gets! Good luck,

I'll recommend one of Roc's techniques as I found it worked pretty well... :)

Thin linseed oil 1 part to 5 or more with turpenoid. Brush THINLY on to the leather. When dry you should have a slight sheen. Thx, Roc!

I'm no pro, but I've got to tell ya, I've been working and working on how to get that leather sheen for some time. I didn't want it to just shine, I wanted it to have depth as well. For me, leather needed to have a "visual feel" of leather. What I've found is for ammo packs, boots, certain types of belts, things that would normally be polished and taken care of, using Minwax Furniture Paste Wax right out of the can really works great. You apply it right over the painted piece. The more you apply, the deeper that leather look becomes. It really adds a sense of "heavy" to the look. I've never had it remove any paint before, but you should give it a few pratice runs on some test product first.
