Just finished - 120mm Korean Warrior AD17. Painted in acrylics. Not an easy figure to paint as the face is very 'anime' cartoon-like. I added the kit base to a wooden plinth and added some dead bamboo leaves to add to the effect.
All paints were from Forge World - a UK wargame figure manufactirer. The come in sets with three shades of the same colour so shading is made easy.

Dave,

Lovely work. I wouldt suggest that for your next figure more shadowing. Iff the effect of the shadow is to light, you must redo it untill you are satisfied.
But you are on the right way, so keep painting.
Your base is extremely well done.

Thanks Marc. Most of the shading on this is done with glazes and washes, but as the paint is slightly semi-gloss in finish it's got a bit lost in the pics. It's worked better on the horizontal surfaces, and not on the green tunic. I'll see if I can redo parts of it without disturbing the matt varnish (that doesn't seem to have worked anyway!)

Great job Dave.

did you use flash for the photos cause the colors look a bit glossy!!!!

never the less fantastic job!!!!

oils or acrylics?
I didn't use flash, but these paints are a semi-gloss finish. I did use a matt varnish but the spotlights used for photography have made it look a lot more shiny than they really are.

All paints used here are acrylics - back to oils for the next figure as they're much easier to shade!
