Not sure if Romans replaced the eyes with colored beads, but why not?

-In reality, after I consulted also with my Roman expert, I believe that they left a cavity in place of the eyes, or that these were replaced with stones.
I was tempted to represent them as stones, but then I opted for a "pictorial license", because I didn't want it to be thought that I wasn't able to make them and because the figure is more beautiful.
