I think that a lot of guys are closed in on one piece of research Steve,instead of cross referencing.
In my mind it is 80% research 20% sculpting/painting and still miss some of the finer details.

Hi Ogr,
I have attached a couple of photo's which demonstrates what Steve was saying, you can see from these they are constructed from 6 panels. Somewhere in my archives I have the description and measurement for the dress regulation for the foreign service helmet from this period. Agree about the face, packed with character, as for the helmet nothing I could not fix with a bit of effort.
