Beautiful work.As for the true colours,I belive that in a time when metallic dye stabilizers were unknown to the clothing industry ,all colours faded really fast.If you take under consideration the amount of sunlight,dust and sweat these uniforms were exposed to...Whatever the case,your interpretation is extremelly well made and convincing.

Thanks - the 61st officially wore crimson but there have been recorded instances of the regiment wearing violet coats due to production problems. I was trying to paint a lightish blueish violet tone..
 
Really good groundwork - well worth the extra effort as it 'sets the scene'.
It's always nice to see (and paint) some new colours as well, as the martial colours we use can get a bit 'samey'.
 
Very nice Edward, it is not easy to get these rather simple MM foot figures to look good ; you have managed this with a good bit of ingenuity .
