Very nicely done. I'm not sure he'd have kept that helmet other than as a souvenir. There were (regrettably) plenty of 'spare' helmets around on the Dunkirk beaches.

Mike

Yes Mike a souvenir with inspiration from a few sources including this image.

Sang-Eon was inspired by a young Paul McCartney to get a cheeky look of a lucky survivor.
Sure a hell of a time for these guys, but often see the odd smile poking through all the gloom of retreats.
- it's one way of coping with it after all.

The attention to detail & effort to use this to add "Life" to the subject is a hallmark of Sang-Eon's brand.
I look forward to doing a Kiwi evacuee from Greece/Crete & yep some of them looked like PMcC too
Yeah Right! :)

Stay safe,

My Grandad was a Dunkirk veteran and he never said too much about it ....but what he did tell me leads me to believe he didn't have to much to smile about at the time.... he also had a cousin who was killed in the rearguard action with the Oxford and Bucks so will be getting this as a bit of a tribute to both....Kevin

I agree with Kevin. My uncle also was at Dunkirk and he ended up being shot in the back and caught pneumonia from the time spent in the water. He definately didn't have a lot to smile about. He survived though.
