Please note:

The star on his beret was NOT red, as often shown but golden, for it was the insignia of his rank Commandante (Major) of the revolutionary army!

Cheers

Che has the full on heroic pose..straight off a poster! Will likely create both a love it and a hate it group...so full marks Life for putting it out there..

Models do not glorify anything, you / I do. I model Axis armor of World War II, but I in no way endorse that regime’s actions, policies, or anything else for that matter. Yes, the man depicted did do those things you mentioned, the model didn’t. You could use the figure to show him falling into his own shallow grave if you wish. It all depends on your perspective.

I am sorry for what you have suffered, I am merely defending modelling here. And, this is not the place for a political discussion. And there are ample figures of the little corporal from Austria... and of Stalin, et al.

Not this again...
If it offends you don't buy it. Don't force me not to because you don'y like it. I don't especially like figures of Confederates, since I consider them defenders of an vile practice and traitors to the US. BUT, I don't care if people paint figures of them. Simply because it may affect someone more personally than another doesn't mean that one voice should drown out all others. I would like to see some IRA figures to go with all those Brit Para figures, but the last one that was shown here drew howls of criticism. We get plenty of figures of British soldiers of the Raj, who killed many thousands of Indian civilians, no one bats an eye. The funny thing is, the Che bust is right there with Max Wunsche, Knights cross precipitant as a member of the Waffen SS, a group that killed many times more than Che's people ever did. But as Stalin said, and I guess it applies here, one death is a tragedy, a million deaths a statistic.

Amazing sculpts of people that really lived - Lifelike!!
The political(-correct) views related to these busts that lead to emotional reactions are best protrayed by covering up the scull badge/swastika in the pictures of the Max Wünsche figure and his portrait (requested by law in Germany) while the symbol of the red star (even if Che`s personal star was golden) can be shown without a black dot. That the American Civil War - or War of Northern Aggression to some people - is still another issue on model tables and other places shows that these emotional reactions can last for a long time.
One man`s hero is the other man`s terrorist - but these models are cracking sculpts. If they will be recruited for the cabinet depends on the appeal they represent for the individual customer.
Cheers, Martin

Right folks that's enough on this, its understandable how people can feel upset if they see something that has effected them or their families or their country but this is starting to snowball, GUEVARA and the IRA mentioned in the same post is too much for me, please stop this now, we are modellers.

Great sculpts. Up to their usual standard. I really like Wünsche. The bust looks just like Guevara. Looking at it makes my skin crawl and I would no more paint it than I would a bust of Himmler but It is a historical representation. I bet they sell a few to the Antifa crowd here in the states. LOL.

Guys

THIS IS ENOUGH ....I draw all attention to the PF GUIDELINES

DO NOT:
Start political, social, religious or other controversial topics prone to subjective and biased opinions.

Good natured discussions and exchanges in the general or lounge areas are welcome but be aware that seemingly innocent political, religious, nationalistic or either banter may be offensive to some members.

Use good judgment here.

The moderating team will provide a warning were it is judged the line is being crossed.

Consider this as it is a sculpt of an historical character , the piece has been done before .....buy it if you want to if not don't .

Respect all viewpoints of course but ths is a modelling forum .

If you have a concern with a thread/comments use the reporting facility so a moderator is aware ..we can see everything !!!

I will lock thread if needed

You know we in this hobby typically use terms such as figure painter, sculptor, historical miniaturist,.....you get the idea.

This Sang-Eon Lee guy is an artist!
