Light Calvary In Progress

I had asked for some suggestions a few days ago on how to paint silver lace without using metallic silver paint. Thanks to some timely advise, I found Lou Masses site, and decided to try his method. Here are a couple of pics of my progress so far, and I have to say I do like the look of the lace, even though I would be first to admit I over did the white paint. So I realize it looks like white lace instead of silver, but live and learn right? I hope to finish him up over the next few weeks when I get a spare moment or two. Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

Thanks Dan. I'm glad you liked it, and I can't wait to see that diorama of yours painted and posted.

Dave, I hope you're right. It could be the lighting as sometimes when I look at it, the lace appears more silvery than at other times. Still, I think it beats painting a layer of Humbrol silver and calling it a day.

Nice job on the lace Glenn I too am working on this figure (although a little postoned due to life! :lol: ) and like your rendition of it very much. I also feel your's and mine will not be the only ones we see of this figure in the near future. This is sure to be a popular one at the shows in the future . On another note, I like the way your flesh turned out as well. All in all Glen, you have done this beautiful figure justice. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like when you finish it!

I'm with Jim, I think the flesh tones are very nice on this piece. Your lace looks great as well. I am working at trying to get some of the same results without metalics as well, and it's gonna take some practice. Great effort here!

Thank you kindly one and all. I have to admit, I felt as though I had turned a corner with this face. I tried to pay very close attention to the flesh tones on the figures I saw at SCAHMS this past March, and so I am grateful it seems to have turned out.

I agree with you Jim, this is bound to be a popular figure on show tables across North America and Europe this year. Then again, I imagine you could say the same thing about the last 5 or 6 Pegaso releases in 75mm. If they keep putting figures like this on the market, I am going keep buying them.

Again, thanks to eveyone for your comments. The feed back available on this forum has really helped me to improve, and I do appreciate all of your input.

Yes, it is a famous figure on the show tables. And it wonders me everytime the nice painting on this wonderfull sculpted figure.
