I managed to get my hands on this great piece by Bold Miniatures.
I purchased the stl and a friend printed it for me (as don't have a 3d printer):

After washing with soap I primed and started experimenting with colors, light directions mood:

I diluted the turquoise paint with only my flow improver / retarder mix by mistake, so after 4 days with the paint still wet I decided to strip it and start all over again :

This time I blocked some lights and shadows and sketched a bit some textures

In the end the piece as a whole doesn't quite work. Composition wise it's meh, with the pink shirt and the nmm stealing attention away from the face. The blue cloth is not good and the lights, shadows and textures do no work.
I did really like how the gold NMM ended up looking, specially on the arm guard.

It was a good experience and I learned a ton from it. The model is lovely as is everything by Bold Miniatures.

I used Vallejo Game Color NMM set, I believe the process is
-Basecoat of heavy brown
- filter with Sepia ink
- Heavy Gold Brown to block ligts
- mix more and more dead white until you only have white as you go 'up' in value

I believe I added some colors that were around my wet palette, but I can't say what they were hehehe
