Just about finished modelling the current scene. I need to add the Reins, but that’s a last minute addition.

Now to get the paintbrushes out.

Another innovative & beautifully put-together piece, Marcus. Your scratchbuilding & sculpting skills never cease to amaze me!
Thank you very much Chris,

Im sure for the experts on Napoleonic’s there are mistakes but I’m happy with the overall build. As I’m cleaning it up for painting I’m sure to add some detail. Looking forward to getting it finished.

Hi Marcus

WOW!! ....that's some great result , putty pushing just gets better each time

Which Regt of lancer have you thought about depicting ?

Are you able to unbuild to assist painting access ?

Hope you've got lots of brushes ! ....Boudicca or Waterloo first ?

Following with much admiration mate

Happy brush swirling

Thank you mate,

Apparently it was the 4th Lancers who engaged the Scot’s Greys at Waterloo, so need to add the 4 to the rolled bedding. (Not sure of its official name). Will sculpt th3 numbers with a little putty. The same for the Greys lettering adding the RNBD. Thank you for the additional images, great references.

The line lancer will be crimson and green, with black turban and facings on the helmet.

This image below shows how the scene breaks down for painting. The Lance, helmet, sword hand, carbine and accoutrements removed for splashing paint.

As ever, a mammoth and ambitious conversion... especially good work on the horses (y)

A few refs for the 4th Lancers below.

The facings colour was scarlet; note that the plastron/lapels could be fastened open (with facing showing) or closed (showing just the green); Also campaign trousers were commonly worn (fine that you've elected to go for trousers/boots) and usually had the leather reinforcements in the crotch and inside legs and that regimental/non regulation versions were common (for the 4th: mid-green and two stripes down the outer leg). Badges on the turnback seem to have been at the whim of the colonel.

Await the finished painted version with anticipation :)

PS: my icon shows some of my Airfix 1/12th scale conversions from the 1960s... plus my scratch-build (other than the head) Grenadier. See: NeilW's old 'uns | planetFigure | Miniatures

Thank you for the reference material Neil.

I plan to do with scarlet facings open. I’m not sure about the fur band on the Dragoon helmet, I’ve read they were black for troopers but the image indicates brown? Also I’ve done with two stripe Hungarian trousers and boots rather than the overalls as depicted on the Scot’s Grey.
I think the two stripes were gold but think they maybe crimson so need to check on that. And well done re the old Airfix conversions.

Cheers.

From what I can see the 'turbans' were brown (see refs below: neither are the 4th but it seems that all wore brown).

Ref the trousers: they'd have the plainer inverted chevron rather than the fancier Hungarian knot. Osprey suggest that these, and the stripes, would be yellow (gold for officers?) whereas the overalls used the regt facing colour.

Thanks again Neil,

Ref the trousers, I read that the 4th had the inverted arrows rather than Knot so depicted that and will do the stripes yellow.
