With tongue firmly in cheek I thought I'd start a thread . . .

One thing that really rattles my cage is the phrase 'pre-order'. Ordering is by definition 'pre' you can't pre-order unless this refers to that moment when you think about ordering something. You can pre-pay ie pay in advance of something being made and you can order something, but the merging of the two phrases is a modern affliction. (A bit like calling cricket 'batsmen' by the now favoured 'batters' like some pieces of fish) :arghh: Please stop it right now!

Well I do feel better for that so thanks for tuning in :D

Hi Paul

So glad you feel better now after this ..you do have a good point ....

Now take that tongue out your cheek....LOL

No pre-order needed for Bugle Call tickets !

I think whoever started the craze for using "like" was the guy who got pissed off with everyone using "OK"

I remember sitting in a lecture once where the guy drove me crazy using OK

As a school boy we had an English Literature teacher who used "Alright" and "Do you see that". My friend and I had a piece of paper under the desk and played paper cricket. Every time he said "alright" it was 10 runs and "Do you see that was a wicket"......had some really close games.......both hated English Literature......preferred Biggles to Pride and Prejudice....LOL

Same thing with pre-shading. It literally means "before shading", not 'shading prior to base coat.'

Also, Mick's Mick's has too many apostrophes--it should be Mick's Micks. That's a little thing that irks me.

Ah yes Apostrophes . . . .as a signwriter you can imagine how I feel about these. (The best one I've seen was an apostrophe used instead of an accent on the letter 'e' on a sign saying Cafe so it was written Caf'e ?!!)

I know Mick's Mick's is is wrong and it should be Mick's Micks But I like it the way it is . At the end of the day that's all that matters. '''''''''
Mick of Mick's Mick's.

I always felt that when I pre-order something I pay and nothing is going to happen for a while because the piece ordered is not ready for shipping. When I order something, I imagine that immediately after the moment my payment is confirmed the pice to be shipped is waiting for me and lots of wheels start turning to bring my order to me as fast as possible. So I thought the 'pre' in pre-order had meaning.

Personally, I dislike company names ending with 'z'.

What the hell is a 4'6" Magistrate...…...But that reminds me of 6th grade elementary school....I shot a spit ball through a straw at my classmate next to me that went so deep in his ear they had to take him to the hospital to get it out...……...:sorry: It's true.....

and then, and then you spend the next 15 minutes before handing over the tenner rubbing it with your cold fingers to make sure there are not two stuck together

if it was that cold in the crypt when you got up should have put the heating on, but no you won't do that so you could feel tenner's properly because you would rather save the heating money the government gives you for a bottle of gin

in the words of Jim Royle….pre orders my arse

rant over.....may be:rolleyes:
