I'm looking for photos of WW1...Not WW2 or later... French Colonial troops wearing Djebellas. I believe there were four troops of mounted infantry or cavalry from Morocco (maybe Algeria) that wore them during WW1. I've seen two Djebellas while in Paris - one in the Le Poilu shop dated 1950 and one in the Musee Armee. See attached. The one labeled Algerian may be my error. I was taking a lot of photos PDQ.
They are different garments with the 1950 one more ornamented with big tufted buttons, splits at elbows, lots of seam binding. The wartime one is either much plainer by design or has suffered with 100 years of wear and tear.
Anyway - I'd like to get as many photos and/or illustrations as possible of Djebellas and completely equipped soldiers wearing them and accurate historical info on which units wore them and where these units fought during WW1.
All assistance appreciated!
