I seem to recall finding a photo here some months ago showing a Napoleonic era French backpack (the cowhide type). It may have been a photo or it may have been a well painted example. Does anyone recall anything? I'm trying to finish my old Verlinden 200mm Fusilier Grenadier bust and am looking for a style/colour reference.

Thanks,
Brent

Hello Brent,

don't paint the edges white, which is a mistake often seen on figurines and in paintings. Otherwise, you can use any cowhide or goathide as a reference.

Hi Brent, where in Alberta are you? I'm in Calgary. If I remember right I think I saw photo's and even painting instructions for what you want from Danilo Cartacci's Advanced Figure Painting Book. I will have a look when I get home.

Hi Gary,

I have the Cartacci book, but haven't looked through it completely yet. Perhaps my answer is right under my nose! Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm just south of Edmonton.
