Hello fellow Figureteers!
Perhaps its just me, (probably me) but I find hard to find information about shows.
I would like suggestions for shows in the US, UK, Ireland and Germany.
Not Scale Model Challenge, Telford or Moson.
Do you have some recomendations for me? Im mostly figure, diorama and armour oriented.
Cheers
Janne Nilsson
Our club, the Miniature Figure Collectors of America, are preparing for our 80th annual show in May, on the 5th and 6th, at the Radisson Philadelphia-Northeast.
Our website is here:
https://www.mfcaclub.com/
We also have a Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/MiniatureFCA
and we use a Facebook group as a forum:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/137713260410885
Here in the US, the other notable shows are:
The Atlanta Military Figures Society,
https://atlantafigures.org/, which hosts an annual show, which was just held this past weekend.
The National Capital Model Soldier Society,
https://www.ncmssclub.org/, hosts a show, also in the fall, this year on 1. October.
The Military Miniature Society of Illinois,
https://www.military-miniature-society-of-illinois.com/, hosts a show in the fall, in October this year. This is Shep Paine's old club.
The Long Island Miniatures Collectors Society,
https://www.facebook.com/longislandmini/, host a show every November. Greg DiFranco is the president, and show chairman.
Many Planeteers are members of 1 or more of these clubs, from in-person membership of those nearest them, to visiting the shows every year. They will be able to tell you more about each one. Myself, I'm at the MFCA show every year (Vendor chair, bartender, and now, President of the club, in that order), and I visit the Long Island show, which is only a couple of hours away. I have not yet gotten to the others, but I plan on it. For me, getting to see everyone in person is the biggest attraction!
Those 5 shows represent the top exhibitions here in the US. You will see the top painters in the hobby at these shows, and often at several of them over the course of the year. If you want to participate in a judged exhibition, these are the top shows here in the US. I like to compare participating in these shows with professional sports league tournaments, which, when combined with the top shows in Europe, all feed into the "World Cup" of World Expo every three years.
I recommend visiting the websites I've listed, and consider visiting these shows, if you're planning to visit the US at any point.
Prost!
